Enjoy the contrast between über-cool Copenhagen and the age old Viking Capital Oslo; cruise overnight along the Kattegat and chill out along the Sogne, Norway’s longest fjord. Ride on the rail line that takes you literally across the mountain roof of Norway and round off your trip with a night in Hanseatic Bergen. If you fancy a night extra along the way then we can just add it in where and when you please.
DAY 1 UK – COPENHAGEN Scheduled SAS flight to Copenhagen. Transfer on arrival. Highlights: Welcome Dinner: Visit to Tivoli Gardens: Overnight at Hotel Scandinavia for two nights.
DAY 2 COPENHAGEN Highlights: Meet Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Mermaid: Christiansborg: Rosenborg and Amalienborg Palaces: Stock Exchange: Optional excursion: North Zealand.
DAY 3 COPENHAGEN – FREDERIKSHAVN Highlights: Cross over the bridge to the island of Fyn: Visit Hans Christian Andersen’s home in Odense: Jutland Peninsula. Overnight at Hotel Jutlandia.
DAY 4 FREDRIKSHAVN – STOCKHOLM Highlights: Cross the waters of Kattegat to Sweden: Gothenburg: Drive along Lake Vattern. Overnight for two nights at Hotel Amaranten.
DAY 5 STOCKHOLM Highlights: The City Hall’s ‘Gold Room’ where the Nobel Price banquets are held: Old Town: Royal Palace: Visit the Wasa Galleon, a 17C naval vessel.
DAY 6 STOCKHOLM – FALUN Highlights: Travel via Lake Malaren to Sigtuna, the old Viking capital: Uppsala Cathedral: Travel through Dalecarlia (Dalarna) to the Ski resort of Falun. Overnight at Hotel Park Inn Bergmastaren.
DAY 7 FALUN – LILLEHAMMER Highlights: Taking the scenic route along Lake Siljan to Nusnas famous for the painted wooden horses: Crossing over the border to Norway: Hamar. Overnight at Hotel Victoria.
DAY 8 LILLEHAMMER – GEIRANGER Highlights: Visit the Maihaugen open air museum learning about old Norwegian rural life: Travel through Per Gynt’s Valley with waterfalls, lakes and snow capped peaks: 12th century Stave Church in Lom. Overnight for two nights at the Union Hotel.
DAY 9 GEIRANGER A day at leisure in the most stunning surroundings where the scenery has been granted World Heritage status by UNESCO. Optional excursion along the Trolls’ Road with photo opportunities of the Seven Sister’s Waterfall.
DAY 10 GEIRANGER – FJORDLAND Highlights: Cruise on the Geirangerfjord: Scenic drive along the Sognefjord: Ferry crossing to Laerdal: Overnight at Hotel Lindstrom.
DAY 11 FJORDLAND – BERGEN Highlights: Cruise along Norway’s longest and deepest fjord, the Sognefjord: Travel on the spectacular Flam Railway with an ascent of 3000 feet. Overnight for 2 nights at Hotel Scandinavia.
DAY 12 BERGEN Highlights: Visit the largest fish market in Scandinavia: Haakon’s Hall.
DAY 13 BERGEN – OSLO Highlights: Travel across the vast Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau, over mountains and through ski resorts to Oslo. Overnight for two nights at Hotel Scandinavia.
DAY 14 OSLO Highlights: Guided sightseeing tour: Royal Palace: Akerhus Castle: Frogner Park and the Vigeland sculptures: Visit the Viking Long Ship Museum.
DAY 15 OSLO – UK Transfer to airport and scheduled SAS flight to UK
