An ideal trip for the first time visitor to Iceland, with the option of extending your stay in Reykjavík for time to enjoy the ‘capital of cool’ or take an excursion of your choice.
DAY 1 UK – REYKJAVÍK Scheduled Icelandair flight to Reykjavík. Transfer on arrival to and overnight at Hótel Loftleidir.
DAY 2 REYKJAVÍK – KIRKJUBÆJARKLAUSTUR Meet your guide and travel along the south shore’s fertile plains in the shadow of Myrdaljökull; past black sand beaches and the green, moss carpeted Eldhraun lava field. Highlights of the day: Hveragerdi: Skógar Museum: Dyrhólaey bird cliffs. Accommodation in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area for 2 nights.
DAY 3 SKAFTAFELL NATIONAL PARK – JÖKULSÁRLÓN EXCURSION Highlights of the day: Skaftafell National Park -Vatnajökull: Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. Accommodation in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.
DAY 4 KIRKJUBÆJARKLAUSTUR – FLÚDIR Follow the road up to Landmannalaugar in the heart of the central highlands with sweeping mountains whose volcanic legacy is tinted in hues of pink and blue ash, black lava and red, brown and yellow on Brennisteinsalaa. Highlights of the day: Fjallabaksleid: Landmannalaugar*: jórsárdalur Valley: Hekla. *If Landmannalaugar road is closed (spring/early summer) KatlaI: Vík: órsmorök Valley. Accommodation in Flúdir area.
DAY 5 FLÚDIR – REYKJAVÍK Highlights of the day: Geysir: Strokkur: Gullfoss: Pingvellir National Park. Overnight at Hótel Loftleidir.
DAY 6 REYKJAVÍK Morning at leisure.Transfer to airport. Scheduled Icelandair flight to UK.
