ADVENTURES AT THE TOP OF THE WORLD

DAY 1 UK – ALTA Scheduled SAS flight(s) to Alta via Oslo. Self transfer & overnight at the Vica Hotel for 2 nights. Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 2 SNOWMOBILING AT THE ALTA IGLOO HOTEL After breakfast, kit up for a snowmobile safari trailing across the vast, frozen marshland of the Finnmark plateau, visit the stunningly intricate Alta Igloo Hotel and have lunch in the adjacent restaurant before returning by car in the fading, golden half light back to Alta. Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 3 ALTA – NORTH CAPE – KJOLLEFJORD After breakfast, travel by bus to Honnigsvag before joining the daily crocodile of vehicles spearheaded by a snowplough that pushes its way north to the vertiginous cliff face, christened North Cape by English explorer Richard Chancellor, which is Europe’s northernmost point. On arrival toast your intrepidity in champagne and gaze out across the eerie Arctic Ocean before embarking on your Hurtigruten steamer and sailing across open water into the tiny Kjollefjord for a night at charming Foldalbruket. Hot tub & dinner.

DAY 4 KJOLLEFJORD - KIRKENES This morning sail out into the fjord on a local trawler to catch your lunch, a giant red King Crab now immortalised by Gordon Ramsey, before re-embarking on the Hurtigruten and cruising above the 70th parallel overnight to Kirkenes on the Norwegian/Russian border.

DAY 5 KIRKENES & THE SNOW HOTEL Disembark early morning and transfer to the world’s most northerly Snow Hotel before kitting up for a husky safari over by the Russian border with a hot snack lunch en route. Return in the afternoon for a tour of the Snow Hotel, dinner in a nearby Kota and a night in one of the hotel’s exquisitely sculpted snow suites.

DAY 6 KIRKENES – UK Warm up with a sauna before breakfast and transfer to the airport for return to the UK.
