HOLIDAYS TO FINLAND

SNOWMOBILE SAFARIING BY LAKE INARI

DAY 1 UK – NELLIM Scheduled Finnair flight(s) to Ivalo via Helsinki. Private transfer by car to Hotel Nellim. Programme briefing, dinner and overnight for 2 nights.

DAY 2 NELLIM Nellim is home to both Skolt and Inari Sami, along with ethnic Finns, and after breakfast your guide will introduce you to some of them, recalling their antecedence and telling of their contemporary lives. Your walk takes you to the village Kota, the Orthodox Church of St.Triphon of Petsamo and a reindeer corral after which you travel by car to the Russian border. Lunch at the hotel before fun & games in the snow on the sloping bank running down to the lake with snowshoeing, tobogganing and reindeer lasso throwing. Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 3 ON SAFARI After breakfast and a driving and safety tutorial, set off for your 50 km adventure through the pine forested belt close to the 69th parallel. Lunch en route by an open fire possibly of arctic char or trout fished from Lake Inari. Continue on to your wilderness cabin for a warming log wood sauna and overnight in a wilderness cabin.

DAY 4 ON SAFARI Today you safari along a different trail perhaps, dependent on conditions, following Lake Inari’s undulating coastline. Lunch en route before heading back to Nellim.

DAY 5 NELLIM Day free for optional husky safari or snowmobile safari to a reindeer corral.

DAY 6 NELLIM – UK Breakfast and private car transfer to Ivalo airport for scheduled Finnair flight(s) via Helsinki to Heathrow.
