HOTEL KAKSLAUTTANEN

Jussi Eiramo came to Kakslauttanen as a young man for a summer’s fishing and has stayed ever since. Today, the 31 log cabins, restaurant and adjacent igloo village are all testimony to Jussi’s passionate attention to detail. The cabins, of varying sizes, are all equipped with shower, toilet, kitchenette, open fireplace and sauna and set amongst trees around a central building. This has a fully licensed restaurant with an open fireplace, around which local specialities are cooked, and a small handicraft/souvenir shop. Sleds are available for everyone’s free use and cross-country skis and snowshoes can be hired from the hotel.

KAKSLAUTTANEN IGLOO VILLAGE

Just 100 metres from the hotel, Jussi creates each year his very own igloo village with a magnificent ice gallery at its centre. There are both snow igloos, with an inside temperature of -3oc / -6oc and, as a gesture to modern life, 5 glass igloos with a comfortable bed, wc and a panoramic view of the night sky. In these the temperature is a tropical +21 oc. Never content with letting the ground freeze under his feet, Jussi has also built the world’s largest smoke sauna and an ice restaurant.
